This little bird is just drop dead gorgeous.

I looks like a mad artist threw his palette of paint at the bird. We usually have a pair of these birds show up at our feeders for just a few weeks every winter.

I have been trying to get a good photo of them for several years. They are very wary birds and fly away at the least little movement.
To get these photos, I sat on a bench for over an hour, trying to get the bird accustomed to my presence. It finally paid off!

The female still would not come up to the feeder, as long as I was in the yard.

These pretty birds are just one example of the birds new Florida residents can expect to see during the winter. Just another day in Paradise!

FOG sez: Birds must be smarter than us, they have been wintering in the south since who knows when.
