OK, here is the dilemma, when visiting a friend’s house, you have the occasion to use the guest bathroom; you need to dry your hands, do you use the fancy towels hanging there or not?

Guys know that those towels are put out to impress guests and that they usually are far more expensive than the everyday towels. So the question remains, to use them or not?

I am sure the host would say, “Of course, you should use the towels; that’s why I bought them”. Right!

Any male who has been married for more than six months, knows those towels are sacred. Even though they look inviting, we know better than to dry a finger with them. And while in the company of others, our wives would insist that the towels are put out to be used. Not a chance.

I have tried to dry my hands using toilet paper or tissues if available, that usually results in a mess of tiny, sticky bits of thin paper all over the place. In the old days, when most guys carried a handkerchief, that could be used. I don’t know many guys, old or young, who carry those any more. What to do with those wet hands?

FOG sez:

Here is my solution, make sure to keep it just between us; use the back of the fancy guest towel. Carefully dry your hands on the back of the towel as it is hanging on the rack, taking care not to disturb the front at all. Really, it is the perfect answer. The towels look like they have never been touched, and you walk out with dry hands. What could be better?
