Who doesn’t love a bunny rabbit?

Well, some gardeners are not especially fond of the little furry creatures. The first year we moved to Florida, we planted asters in the flower bed. We found out that bunny rabbits LOVE asters; they ate them right down to the ground. Needless to say, we did not replant the asters.

Poor bunnies happen to be the number one food choice for bobcats. Great Horned Owls, foxes, coyotes and large hawks also love rabbit. We don’t see rabbits around for long.

Rabbits, squirrels, raccoons and other small mammals in Florida are noticeably thinner than those in the north. They don’t need the layer of fat to protect them in the winter as do the northern ones.

FOG sez:

North, South, East or West, I’m keeping my layer of fat. At this point, I’m not sure if there is anything else under that layer.
